How One Small Notebook Changed Everything

Hi Reader,

I few years ago, I bought a little notebook and started bringing it EVERYWHERE I went.

I didn’t have a plan. I was just sick of being in my head. Thoughts swirling around, over and over and over. It was exhausting.

At the beginning I wrote a lot about my heartache, anger, and grief. I did write some positive things as well.

When I put the pen to paper, something shifted. I wrote down my thoughts, and they got out of my head. And that brought a sense of peace.

It didn’t matter if I was angry, sad, or thankful — I could express it all on paper. That gave me a real sense of freedom.

And after a while, I noticed something:

If I wrote something positive, like a little affirmation or something I was grateful for…

I actually felt better.

There was this forward momentum — even if it was small.

Sometimes I’d just draw.

Sometimes I’d write to my kids — the ones I was separated from.

Love notes. Apologies. Forgiveness. Tears hit those pages.

It gave me something to do with all the pain.

Something to focus on instead of just bathing in it every day.

Writing helped me process, not suppress.

It helped me recognize patterns — stuff I’d been looping on for years.

It pulled emotional baggage out of the shadows and gave it a place to be seen.

That’s real. That’s healing.

It also brought me into the NOW.

No spiraling about the past. No dreading the future. Just now.

One breath. One page.

And over time, I started choosing to write things that lifted me up.

Not fake stuff. Not forced positivity.

But little seeds of the life I wanted to grow.

❤️ “It’s going to be ok.”

❤️ “I know I can handle this.”

❤️ “Look at this beautiful glass of water. This moment.”

I started writing goals. Plans.

Flooding my journal with love, accomplishment, gratitude.

Noticing the good — even the smallest things.

I started to find hope. I started to change how I saw myself and my world.

It changed how I walked through the day.

If your mind ever feels like a warzone — I get it.

But you don’t have to stay there.

Grab a notebook.

Let the pen move.

Let something out.

You might be surprised what’s waiting for you on the other side of the page.

With love,

– Casey

On these types of days, I must take time out for gratitude. I am thankful for my license. I can drive to the coffee shop and get a coffee. I get to listen to the kids working and laughing about some dumb kid things, lol. I have clean water and clothes. I am not locked up or being tortured. I can read, write, see, walk, talk, touch, feel, taste, and experience life today. I know the sun is shining so bright behind the clouds. Thank you, sun ☀️ Now, onward…. I like cake. Consistency Crew You’re probably wondering, “Why am I getting these newsletters every day?” 😂 How do we reach big goals? One of the key ingredients is being consistent about taking inspired action. I’m consistent with some things — and totally inconsistent with others. That’s kind of how most humans operate, right? To get somewhere new, we have to break out of our current patterns. Right now, I’m in the pattern of being good — good with myself, good with life. By “good,” I mean balanced,...
